  • Are your services covered by insurance?
Herbal medicine is not covered by medical insurances. In some instances Holistic Nutrition Coaching may be, but not all companies do. It would be up to you to investigate this. And I cannot make any guarantees.
  • What type of payment do you accept?
You can pay online via secure payment with a credit card, PayPal or with an E-transfer. Additionally, you can pay in person with credit or debit card, or cash.
  • What can you expect from me as a person?
Compassion above all and honesty. Okay, and some humour - it's the Mexican in me!
  • Can we do my consultation in any other lenguage?
Yes! - but only in Spanish. I am not fluent in any other language yet.
  • Can I book a consultation if I am not in Canada?
Yes, we can complete your consultation through a video call. However, I will not be able to send you any herbal preparations, you will have to arrange for this. When possible, I will try to connect you with someone or a company that can provide this for you.
  • What can I expect from a botanical consultation?
During our consultation we will go through your full health history including any previous or current health problems and dietary and lifestyle practices. We will also set health and wellness goals to then develop an integrated herbal, nutritional, and lifestyle protocol to support you in achieving those goals. Herbal formulas can be purchased through JJ Botanicals, but are not included in the cost of the consultation.
  • Will you be ordering blood work and other tests?
No, if any tests are needed these would be ordered by your doctor. And if it's still appropriate, once the results have been completed we can continue to work together, and you can bring them to the appointment to add to your file.
  • Will I be able to go off my medications by using botanical products?
Botanical products are not a substitute for medical care, they can be used to complement your current care. Only if your doctor deems it appropriate modifications can be made to your prescription. Again, this is why that teamwork I always talk about is important.
  • Will you recommend me to go vegan/keto/paleo etc. and eat kale like crazy?
No-no-no! I will try to show you how to integrate the foods you like and maybe some you don't to your diet. As for paleo/keto/or any other label, I do not work under any labels nor do I promote them, we work with whatever rocks your boat. Generally speaking I am not supportive of restrictive eating.
  • What exactly is a holistic approach?
The Holistic approach works with the individual as a whole and the body-mind connection. Your body and mind need to be nourished, cared for, and work together for better results. Our modern obsession with restrictions and fads has distorted our relationship with food, and I want to help you change that because food should enhance your life, not run it.
  • You say you work with an evidence-informed approach, what does this mean?"
It means that I do not simply follow my feelings, anecdotes or blogs to make decisions for my formulas. Combining both traditional evidence and scientific literature review I create individualized products. My training has not just been on plant profiles and product formulation, it also includes subjects like research methods, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, plant-nutrient-drug interactions, pharmacognosy, and even some biochemistry. It also means that when we do a consultation we do a full evaluation of your situation to ensure you are employing all the available and proper wellness resources (both natural and allopathic), and to know exactly how and when botanicals can be of help, or not.
